After learning that his longtime girlfriend does not share his idea of monogamy, Chicago mechanic Bob heads south in search of a simpler life. He settles in small-town Kentucky, rents a room from Steve and Lou, and immediately attracts the attention of their daughter Sally and the pie-baking, advice-dispensing Waynedale “Mafia.” Bob soon becomes involved with Nellie, a single mother whose daughter’s troublesome boyfriends complicate everything, yet he still cannot leave his old relationship behind. Through every comic misunderstanding and painful choice, the quiet man down the hall known as Squat may be the one person capable of helping Bob find where he belongs—if Bob will listen.
